Research
Focuses on integrating qualitative and quantitative methods in career construction counselling to foster people’s sense of meaning, hope, and purpose and clarification of their existential questions. Research aligns with SDG 8 and emphasizes inclusivity and indigenization of interventions.
Qualifications
A registered Educational Psychologist, Prof. Maree has obtained three doctoral degrees, namely DEd (Career Counselling), PhD (Teaching and Learning Facilitation in Mathematics), and DPhil (Psychology). He has obtained his undergraduate degree (BA (specialising in Mathematics, Greek, and Hebrew)), PGCE, Honours, and Master’s degrees in Education (specialising in Career Counselling). Moreover, he successfully completed oral exams in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, and Research Methodology, fulfilling the requirements for DPhil (Psychology) admission. (All qualifications were achieved cum laude. However, doctoral degrees, regarded as the highest academic qualification, are not awarded cum laude as they represent the pinnacle of educational accomplishment. Additionally, in 1991, he completed oral exams in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, and Research Methodology, meeting the requirements for admission to the DPhil (Psychology) program.)

For the past 35 years, I’ve maintained a private practice focused primarily on career construction counselling, self- and career identity clarification, and self-efficacy enhancement. Additionally, I’ve utilized clinical hypnotherapy, particularly from an Ericksonian approach, to provide therapy to people when appropriate and beneficial.
